The Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi was established in 1954. It is registered under section 2 (f)& 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956 and it is also accredited with B++ from National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC). Institution has been granted autonomous status by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi & Ranchi University Ranchi in 2025. It holds the distinction of being one of the oldest and most esteemed legal institution in Jharkhand. Initially it was affiliated with Bihar University, and later became permanently affiliated with Ranchi University, Ranchi. Devoted to justice delivery, legal education and research, as well as judicial reforms, the college focuses on serving marginalized communities and aims to provide a comprehensive education that instills both human and spiritual values.

This moot court competition is organised in compliance with the guidelines established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India (BCI), to promote the idea of 'Vocal For Local'.
