Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) : Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi was formally established on 4th May 2015, in compliance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Since its inception, the IQAC has been functioning as a catalyst for quality assurance and quality sustenance in all academic and administrative spheres of the institution.

Being an autonomous institution, Chotanagpur Law College recognizes that the IQAC is not only a statutory requirement but also the backbone of its quality enhancement framework. The Cell plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the college consistently maintains the highest academic standards, fosters a culture of innovation, and contributes meaningfully to the holistic development of students.

Role and Functions of IQAC at CNLC

The IQAC is entrusted with the responsibility of designing, implementing, and monitoring strategies that promote quality in every aspect of institutional functioning. Its major functions include:

  • Developing benchmarks and quality parameters for academic and administrative activities.
  • Ensuring the integration of modern teaching–learning methods and ICT-enabled practices.
  • Facilitating a learner-centric environment conducive to academic excellence.
  • Organizing workshops, seminars, and training programs on quality-related themes.
  • Establishing effective feedback mechanisms from stakeholders - students, alumni, faculty, employers, and society.
  • Monitoring the performance of academic and administrative units through systematic evaluation.
  • Preparing, collating, and submitting the Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQARs) to NAAC.
Contribution to NAAC Accreditation

Since its establishment, the IQAC of CNLC has been instrumental in steering the college through two successive cycles of NAAC accreditation. It has provided a structured framework for documentation, compliance, and continuous enhancement, ensuring that the institution meets the evolving benchmarks of quality prescribed by NAAC. The success of these accreditation cycles is a testimony to the visionary leadership, collective participation, and quality-driven culture fostered by the IQAC.

Significance in an Autonomous Institution

In the context of autonomy, the IQAC at CNLC has a wider and more dynamic role. It not only monitors and evaluates quality but also strategically guides the design of curriculum, academic innovations, and assessment methods. The Objectives

  • The Primary aim of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the College.
  • The IQAC will provide greater clarity and focus in institutional functioning towards quality enhancement and facilitate internalization of the quality culture.
  • The IQAC will contribute towards enhancement and integration among the activities of the College and institutionalize many good practices.

Functions

Some of the functions of the IQAC are:

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks / parameters for the various academic and administrative activities of Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi.
  • Dissemination of information on the various quality parameters of higher education.
  • Acting as a nodal agency of the College for quality-related activities.
  • Ensure internalization of the quality culture at CNLC.
  • Ensure enhancement and integration among the various activities of the College and institutionalize good practices.
  • Organization of workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles.
  • Development and maintenance of Institutional database through MIS.
  • Build an organized methodology of documentation and internal communication.
  • Documentation of the various programs/activities at CNLC leading to quality improvement.
  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi based on the quality parameters developed by NAAC.
  • Collection and analysis of feedback responses from students, staff and other stakeholders on institutional processes of CNLC, Ranchi.
  • Provide a sound basis for decision-making to improve institutional functioning.
