Chotanagpur Law College offers two-year (four semester) postgraduate degree programme of Master of Laws (LL.M.) instituted by Ranchi University, Ranchi with a view to further the process of reorientation of legal education and to provide sufficient opportunity for specialization in selected field of study as well as to develop research facilities.
The Ranchi University, Ranchi may confer Post-Graduate degree of Master of Laws (LL.M.) on such candidates, who are eligible for admission to the LL.M. Degree Course, have received regular instructions in the prescribed courses of study, passed relevant examinations and being otherwise suitable by virtue of their character, have fulfilled such other conditions as may be laid down from time to time by the appropriate authorities.
Candidates for the LL.M. Degree shall first be admitted to the first semester on the basis of the LL.M. Entrance Test (LL.M.E.T).
A candidate possessing 3 years LL.B. degree after graduation under 10+2+3 pattern or 5 years LL.B. degree under 10+2+5 pattern recognized by the Bar Council of India and / or U.G.C. with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent shall be eligible to appear in the LL.M. Entrance Test organized once every year.
The curriculum of study for the LL.M. Degree shall be spread over to two academic years divided in four semesters.
The academic year shall extend from the day of the reopening of the University after Summer Vacation to the last working day of the concerned academic year.
Academic year begins from 1st of July of the present year to 30th June of next year.

Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi offers a One-Year (Two Semester) Postgraduate Degree Programme of Master of Laws (LL.M.). The programme is designed to provide advanced legal education with emphasis on specialization, research, critical analysis, and professional excellence. The curriculum enables students to develop expertise in selected areas of law while strengthening their research, academic, and analytical skills in accordance with the academic standards prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and other statutory authorities.
The LL.M. Programme aims to prepare graduates for careers in academia, research, judiciary, litigation, corporate legal practice, public service, and policy-making through rigorous classroom instruction, research methodology, seminars, dissertations, and interdisciplinary learning.
Candidates must possess either a Three-Year LL.B. Degree under the 10+2+3 pattern or a Five-Year Integrated LL.B. Degree under the 10+2+5 pattern from a recognized University approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and/or the University Grants Commission (UGC).
A candidate shall have secured a minimum of Fifty Percent (50%) marks or an equivalent grade in the qualifying LL.B. examination.
Admission shall be made on the basis of merit in the LL.M. Entrance Test (LL.M.E.T.) conducted by the College/University or through any other admission process as prescribed from time to time.
1. Admission through the LL.M. Entrance Test (LL.M.E.T.); or
2. Any other mode of admission as may be prescribed by the College, the University, or the Competent Authority from time to time.
The duration of the LL.M. Programme shall be One Academic Year, divided into Two Semesters.
A candidate shall be awarded the Degree of Master of Laws (LL.M.) upon successful completion of all prescribed courses, dissertation/research requirements, examinations, and other academic obligations in accordance with the applicable Academic and Examination Regulations of the College, the University, the UGC, and other statutory authorities.
The academic session shall ordinarily commence in the month of July or as notified by the College/University from time to time.
