Biographical Sketch

Prof. (Dr.) Syamala Kandadai is a Professor of Law and Dean of Faculty at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, with expertise in Constitutional Law, Intellectual Property Rights, International Trade, Fintech Law and Policy, and Data Protection and Privacy Law. She holds a BA LLB (2000) from V R Law College, Nellore, an LLM (2003, First Division with Distinction and Gold Medal) and a PhD (2009) from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.

Her academic career spans over two decades, beginning as a Lecturer-in-Law at Shri P. Basi Reddi College of Law, Kadapa (2004-2005), followed by roles as Teaching Assistant and Assistant Professor at National Law University, Jodhpur (2006-2009), Assistant Professor at University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun (2009-2011), and advancing at NUSRL from Assistant Professor (2011) to Associate Professor (2018) and current position.

Dr. Kandadai has authored numerous peer-reviewed research papers on topics like light pollution, political terrorism, disability rights, and genomic patenting, contributed chapters to edited books, and published several monographs including "Interpretation of Inventive Step: Private Monopoly vs. Public Interest" (2013) and "Smart Financial Markets: AI and the Future of Banking" (2024). She has led or co-led research projects on police systems, cyber crimes, and procedural bottlenecks in criminal trials, guided 7 PhD scholars and over 60 LLM dissertations, delivered lectures at judicial academies and conferences on themes like IPR, child rights, and constitutional governance, and developed e-content on fundamental rights under the Indian Constitution.
