Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC)
WHEREAS Chotanagpur Law College is committed to ensuring a fair and transparent mechanism
for addressing students’ grievances.
NOW THEREFORE in compliance with the University Grants Commission (Redressal of
Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023, the College has constituted a Student Grievance
Redressal Committee (SGRC) to provide an effective framework for students seeking redressal
of grievances related to academic and administrative matters.
1. Objectives of the SGRC
The Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) is established to:
- Provide a structured and accessible platform for students to express grievances.
- Ensure a fair, impartial, and timely resolution process.
- Uphold transparency and accountability in academic and administrative decisions.
- Safeguard the rights of students while promoting an environment free from
discrimination and injustice.
2. Definition of Grievance
A grievance shall include complaints related to:
- Admission irregularities or denial of admission against declared policies.
- Non-payment or delay in scholarships or financial aid.
- Withholding of academic documents without valid reasons.
- Non-transparent examination or evaluation practices.
- Delay or denial in fee refunds beyond the timeline specified in the prospectus.
- Discrimination or harassmentbased on caste, gender, minority status, or disabilities.
- Academic quality concerns related to promised educational standards.
- Any violation of student rights under applicable UGC regulations and institutional
policies.

4. Tenure & Meeting Quorum
- The Chairperson and members shall serve for two years.
- The student representative shall have a one-year term.
- The quorum for the meeting shall be three members, excluding the special invitee.
5. Grievance Redressal Process

Filing a Complaint
- Complaints must be submitted in writing to the Chairperson of SGRC or via email
at sgrc@cnlawcollege.ac.in.
- Complaints should be filed within 15 days of the issue arising.
- Students may also file grievances through the College’s official grievance portal.

Processing & Inquiry
- The SGRC shall acknowledge receipt of the complaint within three working days.
- The committee will convene a hearing within 10 working days and notify the
concerned student.
- The student may present evidence or request witnesses during the inquiry.
- The SGRC shall ensure a fair, unbiased investigation adhering to principles of
natural justice.
- A final decision and recommendations shall be conveyed to the competent authority
and the student within 15 working days from the receipt of the complaint.

Appeal Process
- If dissatisfied with SGRC’s decision, the student may appeal to the Ombudsperson within 15 days of receiving the decision.
6. Confidentiality & Compliance

All grievances shall be handled confidentially, and no student shall face retaliation for
filing a complaint.
- SGRC shall comply with UGC regulations and institutional policies to maintain integrity
in grievance redressal.
- The College administration shall ensure strict adherence to SGRC recommendations.
